February 9 – Vegas sportsbooks have published Super Bowl betting results. A total of $81.5 million was wagered at Nevada licensed sportsbooks on Super Bowl XLIII, an huge 11.5 percent decrease from the 2008 handle. This is the lowest result since 2004.

The 176 sports books licensed in Nevada report a combined win of $6.7 which is an 8.2 win percentage. At least this is an improvement over the $2.5 million loss from last year.

The Steelers failed to cover the spread.

Coupled with declining casino revenues in Vegas, this makes pretty dismal reading for the casino groups.

As far as online sportsbooks are concerned there are no official figures, but a informal discussions with some of the large online sportsbooks reveal a similar trend.
