May 23 – A decision by online gambling site Intertops to create a dual site solution in order to allow players from the United States to enjoy its products, reached a disappointing end when Microgaming announced that it would be severing ties with the casino.
Last week, Intertops announced that it would be launching a unique Red Intertops online casino that would work off the Real Time Gaming platform. The new site will complement the original Microgaming powered Intertops site, which the casino announced would now be known as Green Intertops.
The Red casino now welcomes US players and allows them to benefit from Intertops’ reputation in the industry that it has held for over 10 years, and its excellent products and promotions.
Players at the Green casino are welcome to gamble at any of the sites.
However, soon after the news broke, Microgaming said that it not be continuing its partnership with Intertops because of a clash of interests.
The Head of Marketing for Intertops said about Microgaming’s decision only that: “Intertops Casino is proud to have been powered by such a reputable, market leading, gaming software provider over the last decade.”
Online gambling industry analysts believe that Microgaming’s decision to back out of its partnership with Intertops is a result of the software company’s desire to stay out of the US market until changes to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act take place.
While Microgaming is obviously keen to be part of the ever growing US market, analysts believe that the group is careful not to do anything that is considered even remotely illegal in the current US industry, in the hopes that it will eventually be able to make its way back when the laws change.
