Extend your diving bottom time -
Enjoy the depths
This is the one everybody wants!
The Enriched Air (Nitrox) Specialty program helps you to extend your diving bottom time – going deep and staying longer, or just doubling your normal bottom time at intermediate depths. Enriched Air Nitrox is air that has been enriched with oxygen so that it has more than the standard 21% Oxygen we normally breathe. To add this specialty and enjoy extending your dives, you’ll need to have your PADI Open Water certification (or equivalent) and be at least 15 years old.
This course requires two open water dives. You and your instructor will cover equipment and procedural concerns involving enriched air, and you'll learn how to plan dives and determine your no-decompression limits and oxygen exposure limits. You'll learn proper procedures for obtaining enriched air, and what it does and doesn't do for you.
You will also have a chance to check out a Nitrox fill station, practice analyzing enriched air and learn how to proceed when renting enriched air tanks.
It's also helpful to know that you can combine your Nitrox dives with other dives, so that you could take this class in conjunction with your Advanced Open Water certification, for example.
Cost: $225 which includes books, tables, and one boat trip with two nitrox tanks.
