Slots boost company by $25 million

Some more slots news for you today folks, this time coming from Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Iowa. Unlike the recent disputes at Harrah’s, slots machines have actually increased revenue at Prairie Meadows by $25 million. In contrast, the loss of interest in horse racing cost the company $29 million in 2006, so this revenue increase from slots will certainly come in handy. The report was conducted by Richard Thalheimer, a former University of Louisville Economics professor, and he suggested that the casino and racetrack “made $18 million in slot income from horse fans who came to bet on simulcast races in 2006.”

There we have it then, rather than having to bin certain slots, Prairie Meadows are actually placing slots machines near people who bet on horse races and simply watching the money roll in, not bad work!

Of course, I am still running my petition to save Harrah’s slots, which you can sign by clicking the signature button below.
